SPOTLIGHT: Large Northeast Hospital / Healthcare Network

Challenge:

This client is a nationally recognized healthcare organization with constantly growing needs for data storage. The company needed a way to find best prices for server and storage equipment without buying too far ahead of the technology curve, while taking maximum advantage of performance improvements. The organization also sought a way to improve their internal order turnaround, from request to production, for server and storage project requirements.

EGI Solution:

To help with acquisition and asset management, the company leveraged EGI’s procurement tool for virtually all technology orders. EGI’s on-site sales and engineering staff assisted with projects and architectures, helping to acquire additional Open Systems products and services. EGI became the organization’s main OEM representative and helped institute industry specific applications like imaging, pharmacy and in/out patient.

Results:

The client continues to leverage the EGI procurement tool and on-site staff for ordering, making EGI the company’s preferred Open Systems supplier. In addition, EGI is viewed as trusted advisor on all Open System opportunities to meet all of the organization’s increasing storage needs. The relationship has yielded significant bottom line benefits for this client – both in cost savings and operating efficiencies.

SPOTLIGHT: LARGE NORTHEAST MEDICAL CENTER

Challenge:

Our customer wished to pursue a server migration and consolidation initiative, which consisted of upgrading smaller IBM servers to larger new P-series servers. The customer’s previous solution provider did not have a regional presence, which would make it very difficult for the client to receive responsive engineering support. and prove that we did in fact have clearly demonstrate a strong relationship with IBM, and demonstrate the ability to provide top-tier local support.

Solution:

EGI rapidly developed a solid relationship with the customer, and offered the expertise of our Professional Services department to review the client’s current environment to determine a cost-effective solution that would save them time and money, and ensure comprehensive support.

Result:

EGI orchestrated and executed complete migration and deployment of the new IBM P-series servers in the customer’s environment. EGI built a strong relationship with the customer and has become its “go-to” partner for IBM-based solutions, and for our systems expertise. The relationship has expanded to include the delivery of additional computing products from EGI’s large group pool of world-class technology solution providers.
