UP CLOSE: LARGE NORTHEAST MEDICAL CENTER

EGI Solution:
Systems Migration Consolidation

Project Overview:
EGI participated in an opportunity to win a new client and acquire existing business from an incumbent. The server consolidation project consisted of upgrading smaller IBM servers to larger new P series servers 570’s.

Problem:
The incumbent was from out of state and did not have a local presence; although they did possess a solid relationship with the client.

Challenge:
The incumbent faced a large problem; they were not in the customers’ local geographic area. As a result of this, it was proven to be very difficult for the client to receive quick engineering support. EGI needed to build a relationship with the client and prove that we did in fact have a strong relationship with IBM, as well being able to provide local support which they could benefit from.

Solution:
EGI offered the expertise of our Professional Services department to review the client’s current environment to determine a cost effective solution that would save them time as well as ensuring the relationship of the manufacturer.

Services & Support:
EGI implemented a complete rollout of the new IBM p570’s and worked with the client to insure delivery and setup of the products.

Result:
EGI currently possesses a strong relationship with the client and we are their “go to” partner for IBM and for our systems expertise. We are presently introducing Cisco to the client and attempting to embark on the network side with introductions from the Systems Manager and the IT director.

Follow Up:
We have had continued dialog with the customer and are still their “go to” systems team for IBM. We currently are negotiating IBM maintenance and Cisco introductions.

EGI received a high score for our honest attitude and the ability to deliver what was promised. We currently have a strong relationship with IBM.
