Challenge:
This global investment bank is committed to helping clients achieve and exceed their strategic and financial goals. It needed to consolidate the 20 servers and associated storage (HDS) in its operating environments. They sought a company to step up as a single OEM and serve as the solution focal point.
EGI Solution:
After several meetings between key members of the customer’s organization, EGI and several partner companies, a best-of-breed, multi-vendor solution was designed to consolidate the servers and storage environments. The new architecture was one that the OEMs pledged to support, with EGI providing architecture assistance, implementation and testing.
Results:
EGI’s dedicated project management and staff consolidated the 20 servers into two, and consolidated all UNIX and Windows environments into two storage arrays. Beyond eliminating a stove-piping problem and enhancing availability between data centers, the consolidated components also added functionality and flexibility to the environment. A centralized backup system reduced the demand for assets. The results are greater return on existing assets, a simplified environment and achievement of the client’s critical business objectives.
Challenge:
In order to meet a tax deadline at the end of the year, this company needed 33 servers labeled, shipped, racked, configured and tested for a new alternate data center in Georgia. Due to the holiday season, this gave EGI only two weeks to complete the installation.
EGI Solution:
Led by a dedicated project manager, the EGI team first determined exactly which machines were needed to meet the company’s requirements for processing speed, memory and I/O, as well as application compatibility. For the alternate data center, EGI ascertained expectations for labeling, delivery, record keeping and implementation of the servers and followed through to ensure all expectations were met.
Results:
All 33 servers were delivered within four days of the first server arriving onsite. The systems were successfully installed in only 10 days, helping the company to beat the tax deadline, which resulted in significant tax savings and quickly accomplished their goal of building out their alternative data center.
